ShowerAide Bath Chair and Transfer System

We are sorry, but due to issues finding a manufacturer, we are unable to bring this chair back to market at this time.

ShowerAide™ was designed to provide bath access for the disabled and elderly. Since 1995, the product has provided assistance to those in private, retirement and nursing homes across the World.

The chair is full size, and the seat is 19 inches wide and 16 inches deep, with a 20 inch back and is constructed of rust proof, polished, lightweight stainless steel that will not rust. The back, seat and arm rests are constructed of mildew resistant ABS with a comfortable textured finish. The perianal area of the seat is open and the perineum area is recessed for improved hygiene.

The product provides security with independence and privacy to those who are disabled allowing them to remain in the comfort and security of their own home without having to relocate to more expensive facilities. ShowerAide™ allows those who suffer from slight disabilities to enter from a wheel chair themselves or if they require assistance, for it to be small. The seat overhangs the bench by 2 and one half inches to allow for easy transfer from a wheel chair or lift.

Care-givers appreciate the ease with which they can seat the patient in the chair, even from a wheel chair or lift. The care-giver does not have to enter the tub or shower with the patient.

Computer's, electricity, batteries, and water pressure are not involved. The bather sits in the chair on the outside the tub/shower, folds down the arms and with finger pressure releases it from the locked position where it swivels and slides into the bath on a rust proof, polished, lightweight stainless steel bench. The supporting legs on both ends of the bench adjust in height to acommodate the bather or the tub/shower wall.

When the shower is completed, simply lift the locking lever, slide and swivel the chair to the outside the tub or shower where it locks into position for easy and a safe exit. The bather is always in the full size chair!!

The seat swivels 360 degrees, to adapt those patients with rigid limbs or involuntary leg reflexes offering them the entire length of the tub/shower to extend their legs.

The chair can be ordered with the following options: Anterior pelvic positioning belt which is permanently attached to the seat; Optional trunk positioning belt which is one piece and buckles behind the seat back; Optional padding for the belts; A two inch thick (dense cell) padded seat cushion which is permanently secured to the seat, while still retaining the advantages of the open perianal and recessed perineum areas.

The entire unit can be assembled without tools in less than 5 minutes. The weight of 38 pounds enables the unit to be easily removed for cleaning the tub or shower or to allow others to bathe who do not need the security that ShowerAide™ provides.

We warrant the unit against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from date of purchase. If there should any defect with normal use, we will replace the product at no charge. The cost  is a very practical and cost-effective way to rehab a bath for the disabled!

The stainless steel bench is 33.875 inches in length x 14.375 in width. The horizontal supporting legs on either end of the bench are 30 inches in length (30.5 inches with the protective rubber tips). The fold down arms are 23.5 inches from outside edge to outside edge when in the down position.

The adjustable supporting legs on both ends of the stainless steel bench enable the chair to be raised from 19 inches to 24 inches from the floor level to acommodate tubs or showers of various depths.
